Dave Kendall, creator and former host of MTV’s “120 Minutes,” has died, according to a post from his friend and latter-day host of the show, Matt Pinfield. No cause of death or age were cited, although he was likely in his sixties.
It may be 25 years old now, but Halo’s first installment still has the power to wow. Combat Evolved is packed full of awesome moments: the first view of the titular ringworld arching above you, the Covenant swarming onto the Pillar of Autumn, and driving a warthog through vast Forerunner structures. And as you push forward through Master Chief’s debut mission, there’s the sense of a rich universe being teased, whether its ancient civilisations or the extent of humanity's reach across the galaxy. The series' founder, Bungie, created a universe with so much intrigue that its expanded universe was able to begin before the first game even launched – the beloved prequel novel, The Fall of Reach, was published a couple of weeks ahead of Combat Evolved’s launch.

This Creamy Mushroom Chicken is one of my favorite skillet recipes for turning simple chicken thighs into a cozy dinner in about 35 minutes. I keep the spirit of a good pan sauce here, using browned chicken thighs, mushrooms, garlic, Parmesan, and half-and-half (instead of heavy cream) to make a creamy, savory sauce without driving up the cost. The mushrooms help stretch the meal a little further, and the garlic makes the whole skillet smell AH-MAZING. The sauce is garlicky, mushroomy, and perfect spooned over pasta or rice, or if you’re trying to curb the carbs, make a big ol’ beautiful salad to complement the rich flavors!
The singer-songwriter’s show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom celebrated her new album, Daughter From Hell — and how far she has come
It’s a humid summer night in New York and the entirety of Bowery Ballroom — all 500 or so attendees — are harmonizing with Gracie Abrams. “I really want you guys to be on the song,” the singer-songwriter says, just before she records the crowd’s sustained hum with a multi-track loop machine. Abrams pairs the sound with her own pitch-perfect voice to create an impromptu backing track for the live debut of her new song “Humming.” The effect makes her eyes light up. “That’s special,” she says, “Our first duet together.”

Fats and oils are essential to life. They provide energy, support the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, contribute to the structure of cell membranes, and give foods their flavor, texture and mouthfeel. Yet the way fats are produced, processed and consumed is changing. Food manufacturers are under pressure to develop ingredients that are not only safe and stable, but also better aligned with health, sustainability and clean-label expectations.
If you don't own the data, you're building someone else's advantage.
For the last two years, most enterprise AI conversations have revolved around models: which foundation model to use, which provider is ahead, which benchmarks matter and whether open or closed systems will win. Those questions still matter, but they're no longer what's slowing enterprise adoption.
The LP is a follow-up to the musician’s Grammy-winning effort Hyperspace
Beck will release his 15th studio album, Ride Lonesome, on Sept. 18 via Capitol Records. The LP marks the musician’s first collection of new songs since 2019’s Hyperspace.
AI models are becoming ever more capable, but exactly what enterprise adoption will look like remains a big question. In a bid to shape that future, labs like Anthropic and OpenAI have spun up separate businesses dedicated to deploying AI engineers to their customers’ offices — a bet that assisting businesses in figuring out how to use their AI models is the next trillion-dollar category.
