Angry Miao’s New Magnesium Mouse Has Hot-Swappable Batteries

Angry Miao Infinity .97 gaming mouse

The Infinity .97 from Angy Miao is an elite gaming mouse made from magnesium and weighing just 47g.

ANGRY MIAO

The Angry Miao Infinity .97 is a lightweight, wireless gaming mouse made of magnesium and designed for competitive esports, with claw and fingertip grips for elite gamers. Built around a 97%-scale symmetrical shape, the mouse offers 8,000Hz polling rates with wired and 2.4GHz wireless connections. A unique twin-battery hot-swap system lets players replace a depleted battery without having to switch to a wired connection.

The Infinity .97 addresses two challenges commonly experienced when using high-performance wireless gaming mice. Mice with full-size rear shells can restrict in-hand corrections for some claw and fingertip players. Meanwhile, higher polling rates can also increase power consumption and force users to switch to a charging cable during extended gaming sessions.

To counteract these issues, the Infinity .97 ships with two color-coded 340mAh magnetic batteries. While one battery is powering the mouse, the second can be charged in the supplied receiver unit, which also functions as an 8K wireless receiver.

When the active battery runs low on power, the process of removing it, installing the charged spare and automatically reconnecting the mouse can be completed in as little as 1.2 seconds. This means players can continue using the mouse wirelessly without having to connect a charging cable.

With Blast Mode disabled, Angry Miao says each of the rechargeable batteries can last for up to 165 hours at 1,000Hz polling rate or around 30 hours at 8,000Hz using a 2.4GHz wireless connection. Actual battery life varies depending on settings and usage.

MORE FOR YOU

With its strong skeletal design, the Infinity .97 is a mouse designed for competive gaming and offers polling rates of up to 8,000Hz.

Tested By Gamers

During the new mouse’s development, Angry Miao used its Razer Viper V3 Pro as a familiar, full-size reference for a symmetrical esports shape. The engineering team then created five scaled prototypes ranging in size from 95% to 99%. The prototypes were then tested by 129 volunteers, including FPS players, general gamers and existing Angry Miao users.

Participants in the evaluation process were asked which size of mouse was their favorite when using their preferred grip styles. The 97% prototype received the highest share of preferences and was preferred by 40% of the testing group.

The resulting design of the mouse decreases its overall footprint while retaining the stability of a familiar symmetrical profile. The shorter rear section creates additional clearance between the mouse and the palm of the player’s hand during recoil control, downward movements and other small in-hand corrections.

Without the optional Hatchback, the Infinity .97 measures 115 x 62 x 38.6mm and weighs just 47g with one battery installed. Angry Miao says the shape is best suited to players with a hand length measuring less than 17cm, while players in the 17–19cm range might benefit from the additional room available for micro-adjustments.

The Infinity .97 uses the PixArt PAW3950 sensor, which supports sensitivity of up to 30,000 DPI and tracking speeds of up to 750 IPS with acceleration of up to 50G.

Optional Magnetic Hatchback

Players who prefer additional contact between the mouse and their palm can opt for a configuration with a magnetic Hatchback rear cover. The Hatchback fills the open rear section of the mouse’s magnesium frame, providing additional palm contact with more support and stability. It attaches and detaches without tools, enabling players to choose between a more open rear profile for in-hand movement or a more supported profile for a locked-in grip.

With the Hatchback installed, the mouse measures 123.2 x 62 x 38.6mm. Official 3D-printable rear-cover files are also available through the Angry Miao community, letting users explore additional rear-cover designs to suit their tastes.

The Infinity .97 uses the PixArt PAW3950 sensor, which supports sensitivity of up to 30,000 DPI and tracking speeds of up to 750 IPS with acceleration of up to 50G. Angry Miao’s custom Real8K Engine supports polling rates up to 8,000Hz via USB-C wired and 2.4GHz wireless connections.

The left and right primary buttons of the Infinity .97 mouse use TTC Orange Dot Optical Micro-Switch V2 switches, which are rated for 100 million clicks.

Blast Mode

Players can also enable a Blast Mode on the mouse, which locks sensor sampling at 20,000 frames per second for a more consistent and high-frequency tracking. Because Blast Mode increases power consumption, the dual-battery system enables a depleted battery to be replaced in-situ instead of requiring the mouse to be connected by cable.

The left and right primary buttons of the mouse use TTC Orange Dot Optical Micro-Switch V2 switches, which are rated for 100 million clicks. The optical design operates without the conventional debounce delay associated with mechanical main switches. The middle mouse button uses a separate optical switch for independent tactile input.

Tri-Mode Connectivity

With support for 2.4GHz wireless, wired USB-C and Bluetooth connectivity, the Infinity .97 is versatile. Polling rates of up to 8,000Hz are available in wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes, while Bluetooth provides an additional connection for everyday use rather than competition-level gaming.

Angry Miao’s has developed a web-based configuration interface for customizing settings, including polling rate, up to eight DPI stages, X and Y sensitivity, button remapping, macros, lift-off distance, and debounce settings. The website can also be used to enable Motion Sync, configure standby time and customize RGB lighting on the receiver unit.

The Angry Miao Infinity .97 is a lightweight mouse for fast gaming moves.
