This Custom Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Is Dressed Head-to-Toe in Matte Black Carbon Fiber

The latest supercar to roll out of Alfa Romeo’s custom creative hub skips a paint job and opts for a hand-laid celebration of carbon fiber. The Perla Nera, meaning Black Pearl, is a one-off 33 Stradale created through close collaboration between the owner and Alfa’s bespoke creative team.

Just 33 custom 33 Stradales, which are inspired by the 1967 33 Stradale, will be produced, each specifically crafted to the owner’s tastes. The Perla Nera brings the supercar’s already stealthy demeanor to new heights with exclusively black features.

From afar, the Perla Nera looks deceptively simple. But a closer look reveals a body engulfed in matte-black carbon fiber. In the Perla Nera, carbon fiber is both the building material and the final design.

Each body panel is molded with hand-placed carbon fiber sheets to highlight the car’s curves. On the hood, the directional fiber is mirrored to accentuate the V shape that defines the front end. Along the sides, the pattern sweeps past the doors and toward the rear, which features—you guessed it—more hand-placed carbon fiber. The Perla Nera pushes the all-black dressage into every facet of the car, including its wheels and mirror caps.

Every logo, whether that’s Alfa Romeo’s or the owner’s registered Perla Nera name, appears only in black and gray to deliver a seamless, nearly uninterrupted design.

The carbon fiber isn’t just for looks, though. Beneath the hood is a 630-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that routes to the rear wheels. That power, paired with the Perla Nera’s ultra-light body, means the supercar can hit 62 mph in under three seconds and has a top speed of 207 mph.

Inside, black Alcantara upholstery accompanies the carbon fiber within the one-of-one cockpit. The driver’s seat was fitted to the owner’s body, and personal touches are placed on nearly every surface. The custom Perla Nera wordmark appears on the doors, seats, and interior panels, and the owner’s initials are engraved onto the gear shifter. The historic Quadrifoglio, or four-leaf clover, is the only pop of color allowed on the car. It adorns the launch button and appears inside the door panel.

Every part of the design process was a direct collaboration between the owner and Bottega Alfa Romeo, which is a part of Alfa and Maserati’s BottegaFuoriserie custom creative hub. Only 33 units of the 33 Stradale will exist, each made to order with explicit input from the owners. The Perla Nera is the latest to be unveiled, and it’ll be on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum until October 18.
