Humans sleep the least of all apes – is it the secret to our success? | New Scientist

Humans have evolved to sleep less than other primates

Michael Kirkham

I am napping in a chimpanzee nest, 12 metres above the ground in Uganda’s Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve. Sleep comes easier than you might expect. The nest is surprisingly well-engineered: springy, cupped and stable in a way that feels less like a pile of branches than a purpose-built piece of furniture.

New Nissan Frontier Honors America with Patriotic Badge, but It's Limited to 2500 Pro-4X Trucks

  • The 2026 Nissan Frontier will be available with a free "Stars and Stripes" tailgate badge.
  • Along with celebrating the United States of America turning 250, it also marks the 1 millionth Frontier built at Nissan's factory in Canton, Mississippi.
  • The patriotic badge will only be available on the Pro-4X model, which starts at $43,615, and Nissan says it will only sell 2500 of these special-edition trucks.

Nissan has been building compact pickup trucks in the United States since 1983, just seven years after this country turned 200 years old. Now, with America about to celebrate its 250th birthday, the Japanese automaker looks to join the festivities by offering a new "Stars and Stripes" motif that's featured on the Frontier's tailgate.

Mitsubishi Teases the Return of an Iconic Feature on the New Montero, Albeit with a Modern Twist

  • Mitsubishi's revived Montero (known as the Pajero in other markets) is scheduled to debut in Asia later this year.
  • The company released a new website for the off-road-ready SUV that teases a modern twist on its iconic triple-meter gauges.
  • The Multi Meter digital gauges provide real-time altitude, compass heading, ambient temperature, pitch and roll angles, and left-right torque distribution.

The Mitsubishi Pajero is more commonly known as the Montero on our shores, and a reborn version is scheduled to debut later this year. While we're still mostly in the dark about the revived off-road-capable SUV, Mitsubishi has been steadily teasing information as the reveal draws closer. The newest teaser was released on a dedicated website for the new Pajero and confirms the return of the distinctive triple-meter gauges.

Tested: The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt Strikes Back

6/29/26 UPDATE: This review has been updated with instrumented test results.

Amid the electrification boom in 2023, the Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV were the two least expensive electric vehicles in the marketplace. Then one day—poof—they were gone. General Motors had a whole legion of flashy new battery-powered SUVs and trucks waiting in the wings, leaving little room for the company's lowest-hanging fruit, so the Bolt's Michigan-based assembly line was packed up and shoved to the side. But there was a reason for it: The Little Chevy That Could's hardware and electrical architecture had maximized its potential—and little did we know, Chevrolet had already begun work on the 2027 Bolt before the last sheetmetal stamp was put away.
