On Wednesday, IBM officially reported earnings and the news was as bad as everyone knew it would be.
While the 115-year-old company still generates boatloads of cash — $17.2 billion in revenue, $9.9 billion in gross profit, nearly 58% margins, and $2.2 billion in net earnings for the quarter — its results fell well short of Wall Street’s expectations.
At this point being into the digital versions of Blood Bowl is basically masochism. In the 1990s MicroLeague published a version that was so cheap and nasty I said, "to call it barebones would be an insult to skeletons." Cyanide picked up the licence after that, releasing two decent adaptations whose DLC model was controversial at the time but seems blessedly sensible compared to Blood Bowl 3, a live-service seasonal microtransaction confusatron that's basically a poster child for "look how they massacred my boy" memes.
The differences between tires for cars and semi trucks go beyond size, construction, and load capacity. Car owners have it easier since sedans, crossovers, and pickup trucks don't need specialized sets of tires for steering duties and power delivery. Meanwhile, tire blowouts are among the top causes of fatal semi truck crashes, and an optimal tire setup is a non-negotiable on a 70,000-pound long-haul machine. That's why, unlike modern cars that require sets of all-season, high-performance, or summer tires in dry weather and all-weather, all-terrain, or snow tires in winter at all four positions, semi trucks need custom tires for the front, middle, and rear, and each is specifically made for the job at hand.

An international study led by researchers from the University of Tartu shows that approximately 470 million years ago, a significant ecological change took place in the world's oceans: For the first time, the interiors of empty mollusk shells began to be used as habitats. This marked the emergence of a new ecological niche and was a crucial step in the development of a marine ecosystem similar to today's.

As the world faces new and often untreatable viral threats, Simon Fraser University researchers have found a way to cut years off the time it takes to discover antiviral drugs. The new research enables scientists to quickly create large libraries of nucleoside analogs (NAs), compounds that mimic the building blocks of DNA and RNA and are widely used to treat cancer and viral infections such as HIV and hepatitis.
